During classes at Griffith Pottery Works, you will be throwing three pieces on a pottery wheel. I will center and open up your clay. Then you will learn to pull up the cylinder and reshape it into your choice of bowls, etc. As this is not a "paint (glaze) your own pottery"studio there are not pre made items that you choose and then glaze
After you make your items, there are two firings, one is bisque, and the other is glaze. Since these are items made to be used, the pottery is dipped in the glaze and refired to 2300 degrees F. So, I will be glazing your pottery with your choice of a selection of glazes.
You will be in the studio either on your own or with a selection of your friends for a group class. I only schedule one class per day so that you can receive very personal attention to ensure the success of your creative experience.. The fee of 45.00 per person covers all the materials, glazes and firings as well as personal instruction. Each person has their own wheel to use during the class. A private class takes about an hour, two people will take about an hour and a half or so.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions that I haven't answered.
* Dates fill up quickly, especially Saturdays. Please schedule about a month in advance in order to more likely have the date you prefer. Classes are being scheduled for September 2017.
